The Movie
Without Papers is a story of triumph, a documentary that highlights the struggles of Johana, a young and bright immigrant from Venezuela, who has been living in the US for more than 20 years… without papers.
Imagine growing up in the US without a legal identity. Not being able to drive, travel or work. How about your parents driving you across country so you could play in a softball tournament? Culturally you are an American teenager but legally you are undocumented, having to live in the shadows.
It was only after President Obama provided a temporary path to legal registration: DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which aids young adults that were brought to the US as children, that Johana was able to participate fully in America’s society.
This movie, Without Papers, tells Johana’s story – because her story of one is really the stories of thousands. Scroll down to see the trailer.
